Werewolf by Night, Marvel Studios’ 2022 special presentation, has received a major sequel update from director Michael Giacchino. The longtime composer ventured into directing with the horror spin-off and has now confirmed that he is in talks about the sequel.
Speaking to Screen Rant at the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Giacchino assured fans with a promising update on Werewolf by Night 2. “We’re talking about it,” he said, adding, “Everything takes forever to do. There’s a lot of planning that has to happen. Everything has to fit in a particular place at a particular time. So you know, nothing moves as fast as we’d like it to.”
“I hope one day you will be sitting there watching another Werewolf by Night,” Giacchino added, giving fans some new hope for a sequel. He had previously confirmed that he would return to direct a follow-up last year.
Following Giacchino’s comments, several fans have expressed their desires for the sequel to pave the way for more supernatural stories. X user @Bridgetrso said, “Now give us Werewolf by Night, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, and Blade in one project.” Meanwhile, user @LyfeonMars requested Marvel to “Make it a midnight sons or Blade short film.”
Marvel has yet to introduce a new Blade in the MCU, or follow up on Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight. X user @JdoYark posted an image of Moon Knight facing off against Werewolf by Night, hoping for a crossover in the future.
Which are the other popular werewolf TV shows?
Television and werewolves have always found comfort in each other. There have been several shows that feature a person turning into a werewolf upon glancing at the moon, often reluctantly. Some of the most popular TV shows about werewolves have been Teen Wolf, Bitten, The Order, and Hemlock Grove. Netflix’s major hit Wednesday also features Enid Sinclair as a werewolf in a positive role, played by Emma Myers.
Werewolf By Night explores the supernatural side of the MCU, introducing fans to Jack Russell, Elsa Bloodstone, Man-Thing, and more. The special presentation ended with the titular werewolf and Man-Thing together. The black-and-white TV special was later re-released in color on Disney+.
Michael Giacchino composed music for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which opens in theaters on July 31, 2026.
