The second season of the Scrubs revival has lost two major cast members ahead of its return. This upcoming season will mark the show’s eleventh season counting all previous seasons. The first season of the revival brought the show back to the original Sacred Heart Hospital.
What is the Scrubs Season 2 casting update?
Variety has reported that X Mayo and Joel Kim Booster, who played Nurse Pippa Raymond and Dr. Kevin Park, will not be returning for Scrubs Season 2. Both characters were introduced in the first season after the show was revived. At the same time, Ava Bunn, who played Dr. Sam Tosh, has been upped to series regular for the new season.
Original series regulars Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke are also returning in Season 2. The report also revealed that many cast members from the original show are returning in recurring roles. These include Neil Flynn, John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes, and Robert Maschio. Christa Miller and Phill Lewis will also guest star in the upcoming season.
Scrubs’ new cast members include Vanessa Bayer, Rachel Bilson, Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Layla Mohammadi, Amanda Morrow, and Michael James Scott. Following its revival, the series ranked very high among other broadcast shows during the 2025-26 season. It premiered to 11.4 million viewers and was a hit with critics, earning a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The synopsis for Scrubs Season 2 reads, “J.D., Turk and Elliot have leveled up from interns to icons at Sacred Heart. Now, the respected doctors inspire the next generation while balancing the ups and downs of working in a hospital. Together with characters new and old, they are navigating this next chapter with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.”
Aseem Batra serves as the showrunner and executive producer for the new Scrubs season. Mike Royce, Mathew Harawitz, Randall Keenan Winston and Michael Spiller are executive producing the show.
Scrubs Season 2 will release in fall 2026 on ABC. The new season will contain 10 episodes.
