Kim Kardashian‘s All’s Fair has found itself strangely linked to HBO‘s classic The Wire. The Emmys handed the Kardashians drama with an unexpected number of nominations, which can be compared to the classic’s lifetime Emmy total.
How the Emmys created an unlikely connection between All’s Fair and The Wire
The 78th Emmy Nominations have been announced, and Kim Kardashian’s legal drama All’s Fair has earned two nominations. The Hulu show earned nominations for best contemporary hairstyling and best contemporary makeup
However, their selection drew a strange parallel between All’s Fair and The Wire. The show’s two Emmy nominations match the lifetime total nominations earned by HBO’s The Wire.
This is surprising because the Kardashian show about divorce lawyers was widely criticized after its first season last November. The show’s first season stands with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 6% and a 3.6/10 rating on IMDb.
Whereas The Wire is considered one of the classic TV shows of the 21st century. The low Emmy recognition received by The Wire could be related to the presence of its equally great competitors, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, and Deadwood, at the time. The show ran from 2002 to 2008, and despite being acclaimed worldwide, it received less recognition in television history (via The Hollywood Reporter).

That said, Kardashian’s show has performed well for Hulu, earning 3.2 billion views in just 3 days. The show is slated for another season by the streamer, although the release date has not been announced yet.
All’s Fair is created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Bakken in a story that “Follows a successful divorce lawyer and the owner of an all-female law firm in Los Angeles.”
Murphy directed an episode of the show along with Anthony Hemingway, Uta Briesewitz, and Crystle Roberson Dorsey. The 10-episode series also stars Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash, Teyana Taylor, Matthew Noszka, Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Anthea Phitides, and Ed O’Neill, among many more.
