The first trailer for Antonio Banderas‘ upcoming shark movie Above & Below is officially out now. The suspenseful preview gives audiences a first look at the star-studded cast, which also features Laura Marano.
The official synopsis for Above & Below reads, “During a Mexican shark dive, five friends are ambushed after discovering cartel cocaine. Trapped in a shark cage, Tatiana and Kaley are forced by the cartel to retrieve a bag of drugs on the seafloor. Battling legendary Great White sharks, dwindling air, and armed killers, the survivors mount a brutal fight to outsmart their captors and escape.”

What do we see in the Above & Below trailer?
The first Above & Below trailer shows Banderas playing a ruthless drug cartel leader who forces a group of divers to retrieve a bag of drugs from the seafloor. However, things take an unexpected turn when a deadly shark enters the picture, presenting an inevitable threat. The divers must then try to outsmart the armed killers and the sharks to make it out alive.
Besides Banderas (The Mask of Zorro, Desperado) and Marano (Austin & Ally, The Royal Treatment), Above & Below also features Christina Ochoa (A Million Little Things), Diego Llinás, Timothy V. Murphy (Sons of Anarchy), and Louis Mandylor (My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
Other key cast members are Jess Liaudin (The Substance), Donncha Tynan (Vikings: Valhalla), Ryan Bertroche (Shameless), Ramiro Alonso (Cell 211), Rodrigo Poisón (Bullets & Katanas), and Mario Tardón (El Partido).
Above & Below is helmed by Jesse V. Johnson, who previously worked on The Debt Collector movie series. His other works include Avengement, Triple Threat, Boudica, and more. The movie is produced by David Hillary alongside Carmen Aguado, Manu Vega, and Frank Ariza. With its intense premise, the film looks to deliver a wild, fast-paced ride that seamlessly blends a crime thriller with a high-stakes shark survival story.
Above & Below hits theaters on July 29, 2026.
