Michelle Pfeiffer is now a part of Taylor Sheridan’s The Madison, but another actor who worked with Sheridan had a big role in getting the Delta House star to the series. In her recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Pfeiffer recalled how she had some initial confusion, but talking to 1923 alum Helen Mireen, she found clarity, and ultimately ended up being on the new show.

Michelle Pfeiffer appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she discussed her new role in Taylor Sheridan’s The Madison. The actress recalled how there was some doubt at the start, but talking to Helen Mirren convinced her to join the show.
She explained how Taylor Sheridan talked to her about the project, gave her an overview, but did not give her anything to read. This made Pfeiffer second-guess about joining the project. Sheridan explained to her that he would first get the actress and then write accordingly.
“And anyway, we went back and forth for a couple of weeks, and then, um, I realized that was not a battle I was going to win,” she explained. Then, she reached out to someone who had already worked with Sheridan. “I thought I have to find out something about this and um so I knew that uh Helen Mirren was doing a show with him and I thought,” Pfeiffer recalled, “I loved, and I know she doesn’t suffer fools and so she said the scripts are great and best productions I’ve ever worked on and I’m having a blast.”
“There’s no better recommendation right there,” Colbert chimed in.
And so Michelle Pfeiffer worked with Sheridan, and now The Madison is about to make its debut on television.
The first three episodes of the series will stream on Paramount+ on March 14, 2026, followed by the next three on March 21, 2026.
