Netflix Daredevil Showrunner Comments on Disney+ Series’ Creative Overhaul

The showrunner of the Netflix iteration of the superhero series Daredevil, Steven DeKnight, has commented on the recent overhaul that the Disney+ series is undergoing.

DeKnight took to Twitter to state that he’s not happy about how the Disney+ series is facing difficulties but is glad that Marvel Studios will be using showrunners that are writers for future series.

“I am not happy the show is scrapped and have consistently stated the opposite,” DeKnight said. “However I AM delighted that they finally realized you need an actual showrunner who’s a writer to make a series work.”

What sort of overhaul is Daredevil: Born Again having?

Earlier in October, it was reported that Daredevil: Born Again was undergoing a “significant creative reboot” after the production break that came from the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were quietly taken off the project alongside the series’ directors, while certain scenes and episodes that were already finished will be retained with further serialized elements added.

Both characters made their Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts in 2021. Kingpin guest-starred in the Disney+ Hawkeye series, and Matt Murdock briefly appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Cox also guest-starred in two episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he showed off a lighter side of the hero.
