Homeland Adds Laila Robins and Corey Stoll

Showtime and Fox 21 announced today that Laila Robins (“Bored To Death,” “In Treatment”) and Golden Globe nominee Corey Stoll (“House of Cards”) have joined the fourth season of the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning drama series “Homeland.” Robins joins as a series regular in the role of Martha Boyd, the United States Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who is professional and put together, with a ship-to-ship voice and the personality to match. Stoll will guest star as Sandy Bachman, the CIA Chief of Station in Pakistan and a rising star in the Agency’s firmament.

The series’ fourth season will begin production later this month in Cape Town, South Africa. The network’s number one rated series with an average of seven million weekly viewers, “Homeland” will return to Showtime this fall.

“Homeland” tells the story of Carrie Mathison (Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award winner Claire Danes), a bi-polar CIA officer who plays by her own rules. At the end of last season Carrie, pregnant with the late Brody’s (Damian Lewis) baby, along with her mentor Saul Berenson (Emmy and Tony Award winner Mandy Patinkin), brought a significant and much-needed win for the agency and country at large. Season four will find Carrie assigned to one of the most volatile and dangerous CIA stations in the Middle East where she is back on the front lines in the war on terror. Along with Danes and Patinkin, Emmy nominee Rupert Friend will return for season four, along with Nazanin Boniadi, who was recently promoted to a series regular.

“Homeland” tied for the most wins of any program at the 2012 Emmy Awards, honored with six wins including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, and Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor in a Drama Series; and garnered 11 Emmy nominations in 2013. Additionally, “Homeland” has been awarded Golden Globe Awards, SAG, Peabody, Television Critics Association, AFI and Critics’ Choice Awards.

Produced by Fox 21, the series was developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, and based on the original Israeli series “Prisoners of War” by Gideon Raff. Along with Gansa, Gordon and Raff, the executive producers for season four are Alexander Cary, Chip Johannessen, Meredith Stiehm, Avi Nir and Ran Telem.
