Marvel’s What If Disney+ Show Gets Updated Release Timeframe

One of the most interesting Disney+ shows in development is Marvel’s What If…?, which is an animated show based on the What If comics that Marvel occasionally puts out. Now we have a better idea of its release month.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the show will release on Disney+ sometime in August. This will give Marvel fans something to check out during the summer months. The animated anthology will reimagine tons of events from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Peggy Carter becoming Captain Britain and Steve Rogers becoming Iron Man, among other stories. The main character in the series will be Uatu the Watcher, who Jeffrey Wright will voice.

Most notably, Marvel’s What If…? will feature Chadwick Boseman, who was able to reprise his role as T’Challa, also known as the Black Panther, for the show. His episode will revolve around T’Challa being abducted by the Reavers that took Peter Quill (Star Lord) in The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Every story in the show will be non-canonical, as the stories will feature some wildly different outcomes from their actual events in the MCU.

The original What if comic book series debuted in 1977 and 200 issues have been published over time. The stories ranged from implausible scenarios to more humored-filled takes. It’s a great way for Marvel to use the streaming service to tell more out-of-the-box stories unachievable through live-action.
