Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen are set to star in Apple TV+’s upcoming comedy series Platonic, directed and co-written by Nicholas Stoller, according to Deadline. The trio is reuniting on the project after working together on the 2014 comedy movie Neighbors and the sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.
Platonic explores the inner workings of platonic friendship. A pair of former best friends who met in their youth (played by Byrne and Rogen) reconnect as adults and try to mend the rift that led to their falling out. As their friendship becomes more consuming, it destabilizes their lives and causes them to reevaluate their choices.
Currently greenlit for 10 episodes, the series is an anthology, with each season focusing on a different couple.
Platonic is co-written by Francesca Delbanco, who previously collaborated with husband Stoller on Netflix’s comedy series Friends from College. The series falls under Stoller’s overall deal he and his Stoller Global Solutions have at Sony Pictures TV.
Byrne and Rogen will also executive produce along with Stoller and Conor Welch. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
