Netflix has renewed Lucifer for a fifth and final season

It was in the air and now it is official, Lucifer will see one more (and final) season. The series premiered on Netflix last month with the fourth season, while the first three aired on Fox, who cancelled the show in 2018. Now the fans will get the chance to see how Lucifer Morningstar will conclude his journey.

“We’re thrilled that Lucifer fans around the world have embraced this series on Netflix, and we can’t wait to give them the big finish they’ve all been waiting for,” Netflix said in a statement.

“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms,” Lucifer executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson said. “Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!”

Based very loosely on the Vertigo character, Lucifer is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar abandoned his throne. He then retired to Los Angeles, where he has teamed up with LAPD detective Chloe Decker to take down criminals. The show was abruptly canceled by Fox after its third season but was saved by Netflix last June.

Warner Bros. Television produces Lucifer in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Aggressive Mediocrity. The series is vaguely based on characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo, from DC Entertainment. Additionally, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson are the executive producers. Len Wiseman serves as director and executive producer, while Kapinos serves as an executive consultant on the series.

Season 4 of Lucifer is now available on Netflix. Are you happy that Netflix has renewed Lucifer for a fifth season? Let us know in the comments section below.
