CS Video: Jodie Foster and Jack O’Connell on Money Monster

CS sits down with Money Monster director Jodie Foster and star Jack O’Connell

A two-time Academy Award winner for acting, Jodie Foster this week releases her fourth feature film as a director with the Sony Pictures thriller Money Monster. Starring fellow Oscar winners George Clooney and Julia Roberts as well as Jack O’Connell, Dominic West, Caitriona Balfe and Giancarlo Esposito, Money Monster hits the big screen this Friday, May 13.

In a story that unfolds in real time, Clooney and Roberts star as financial TV host Lee Gates and his producer, Patty, who are put in an explosive situation when an irate investor who has lost everything (O’Connell) forcefully takes over their studio. During a tense standoff broadcast to millions on live TV, Lee and Patty must work furiously against the clock to unravel the mystery behind a conspiracy at the heart of today’s fast-paced, high-tech global markets.

ComingSoon.net had the chance to sit down with Jodie Foster and Jack O’Connell to talk about what went into getting Money Monster to the big screen and about some of the story’s themes and how they drew both talents to the project. Daniel Dubiecki, who worked with Clooney on Up in the Air, and Lara Alameddine developed the script for Money Monster alongside Jodie Foster. Dubiecki and Alameddine’s The Allegiance Theater are producing together with Clooney and his Smokehouse Pictures partner Grant Heslov. Alan DiFore and Jim Kouf wrote the original draft of the script.
