He Bled Neon: Rita Ora Joins Jack O’Connell and Joe Cole in Action Thriller

He Bled Neon, an upcoming action thriller with early Cannes buzz, has added singer and actress Rita Ora to its stacked cast. According to Deadline, Jack O’Connell (Rogue Heroes) and former NFL star Marshawn Lynch are also confirmed to be starring in the project, joining previously announced cast member Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders).

He Bled Neon serves as the feature directorial debut of music video director Drew Kirsch, who has directed music videos for artists like Taylor Swift, Shakira, John Legend, Imagine Dragons, Charlie Puth, and Machine Gun Kelly. A co-production between XYZ (BlackBerry) Films and Two & Two Pictures (Under the Shadow), the action thriller is written by Tim Cairo and Jake Gibson, based on an original story by Nate Bolotin.

Zhu, a Grammy nominee, has also joined the project to compose the score alongside Joseph Trapanese (The Greatest Showman). 

Best known for hits like “Let Me Love you,” “Black Widow,” “Hot Right Now,” “Torn Apart,” “Shine Ya Light,” and “I Will Never Let You Down,” Ora also appeared in films and television shows such as the three Fifty Shades of Grey installments, Southpaw, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, Twist, and Wonderwell. Her television credits include The Voice UK, The X Factor, and America’s Next Top Model, among others. 

Meanwhile, O’Connell is known for her roles in Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Ferrari, and SAS: Rogue Heroes. Peaky Blinders vet Cole has appeared in Green Room, Thank You for Your Service, A Prayer Before Dawn, Pure, and Gangs of London, among others.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “After his estranged brother’s mysterious death, Ethan’s (Cole) journey to Las Vegas for the funeral unravels a dark web of crime, forcing him to confront his past as he delves into the city’s gritty underworld to uncover the truth, risking everything he holds dear in the process.”
