New York Film Festival Trailer Offers First ‘Inherent Vice’ Footage

Speaking with someone at the Toronto Film Festival, I mentioned how odd it was we still didn’t have a single slice of footage or a trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice and yet while we still don’t have a trailer, a preview for the 2014 New York Film Festival has premiered and it offers a brief glimpse at the upcoming black comedy which will premiere at the fest toward the October 4 centerpiece premiere.

Based on Thomas Pynchon’s novel of the same name, Inherent Vice follows 1960s stoner P.I. Larry “Doc” Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix), hired by an ex-girlfriend to investigate the disappearance of her wealthy lover. Reese Witherspoon, Benico del Toro, Owen Wilson and Josh Brolin co-star along with several others.

The New York fest will also serve up the premiere of David Fincher‘s Gone Girl, which is just one of the other several films teased in the following festival trailer. Watch it below.
