Yesterday we saw a The Lego Movie and now the international division offers up an trailer of their own. I only watched a sampling of the first one, but this one is different as I’m not hearing Morgan Freeman‘s voice.
I guess this movie could be fun, but I’m worried they’ll have to stick so close to a PG-rating so as not to diminish Lego’s brand status that it will lack any measure of comedic bite. The joke with Batman saying sometimes he works in “very, very dark grey” just isn’t even worth a chuckle let alone an actual laugh.
The Lego Movie follows Emmet (voiced by Chris Pratt), an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously under-prepared.
The voice cast includes Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Morgan Freeman.
