Paramount has just released the new, and final, Star Trek Into Darkness trailer as we are now only one month away from the film’s May 17 release.
Just yesterday the studio previewed 18 minutes of footage from the upcoming sequel to the CinemaCon audience and while I did my best to avoid descriptions and reactions, a few slipped into my view and were, to no surprise, positive.
The upcoming sequel sees Chris Pine return to the captain’s chair aboard the starship Enterprise along with fellow returning stars Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Simon Pegg and Karl Urban.
Directed once again by J.J. Abrams the film also features a crop of new stars beginning with Benedict Cumberbatch as the chief villain John Harrison alongside Alice Eve, Peter Weller and Noel Clarke.
Check out the new trailer directly below.
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man (Benedict Cumberbatch) weapon of mass destruction.
As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
