Bel Ami is based on the novel by Guy de Maupassant and stars Robert Pattinson as the penniless ex-soldier Georges Duroy and follows his story as he explores the echelons of the 1890s Parisian elite. Pattinson is joined by Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci, Kristin Scott Thomas and Colm Meaney.
The film is described as a tale of ambition, power and seduction and as a Dangerous Liaisons for a new generation. Directed by Declan Donnellan it was expected to play the Venice Film Festival this year but no such luck as it is now set to debut overseas in March.
I just added its MPAA rating just yesterday, as it landed an R for some strong sexuality, nudity and brief language and the MPAA has listed IFC Films as a distributor, though I have yet to hear that officially.
