International Trailer for Lone Scherfig’s ‘One Day’

The response to the One Day, Lone Scherfig’s follow-up to her Oscar-nominated An Education, was certainly mixed. While there were some people that seemed to give it a pass, there wasn’t much overwhelming confidence even in the favorable comments. On the flipside, whether it was fans of the David Nicholls’ bestselling novel being unimpressed, people upset Anne Hathaway was cast instead of a British native or people that just weren’t intrigued by the trailer, there was definite dissension.

Now, a new international trailer for the film has arrived, attempting to win you over.

The story centers on Emma (Anne Hathaway) and Dexter (Jim Sturgess), two people who meet on the night of their college graduation – July 15th, 1988. For the next two decades, every July 15th reveals to us how “Em” and “Dex” are faring, as their friendship ebbs and flows with the passing of the years.

Focus has set an August 19 release for the film, check out the latest trailer and see if it intrigues you more than the previous one, of which “too much voice over” was another complaint I’d read.
