The Great Lillian Hall Trailer: Jessica Lange Leads HBO Original Movie

The Great Lillian Hall trailer for the upcoming HBO original movie has been released, featuring Oscar winner Jessica Lange as a premier Broadway actress who suddenly gets diagnosed with an illness while preparing for her next big play. This marks Lange’s latest collaboration with HBO, following her acclaimed performances in 2003’s Normal and 2009’s Grey Gardens.

The Great Lillian Hall will premiere later this month on Friday, May 31 at 8:00 p.m ET/PT on HBO. It will also be available for streaming on Max.

What is The Great Lillian Hall about?

“As beloved Broadway star Lillian Hall pours her heart, soul, and time into preparing for her next big role, she finds herself blindsided by confusion and forgetfulness,” reads the synopsis. “Battling against all odds to make it to opening night while holding on to her fading memories and identity, she must navigate a tumultuous emotional journey: balancing her desire for the spotlight and the stark reality of her newly diagnosed illness.”

The Great Lillian Hall is directed by Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Cristofer from a screenplay written by Elisabeth Seldes Annacone. The HBO original movie will reunite Lange with fellow American Horror Story alums Kathy Bates and Lily Rabe. They will be joined by Grey’s Anatomy vet Jesse Williams, and James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan. In addition to starring, both Lange and Bates are executive producing alongside Tom Capello, Michael Cristofer, and Alex Platis. Producers are Bruce Cohen, Steven Rogers, Scott Thigpen, Marie Halliday, George Scarles, and Jessica Fox-Thigpen.
