Britney vs. Spears follows the ongoing legal battle the pop star has been going through since the late 2000s. The feature will explore the various questions regarding the necessity of the conservatorship, as well as the legal system’s handling of the case, the alleged corruption found throughout it, and whether or conservatorship laws as a whole need to be overhauled. The trailer promises some never-before-seen documents as well various interviews with folks familiar with the case.

The upcoming documentary will launch on September 28, 2021, just one day before Spears’s case is set to be heard before the Los Angeles Superior Court, where followers and fans alike hope that her conservatorship will finally be ended after beginning in 2008, when her father, Jamie Spears, was entrusted as her sole conservator.

Earlier this year, after news of the conservatorship once again rose to the spotlight, Jamie Spears filed a petition to have the conservatorship ended and said that he would be stepping down as the conservator. Since then, Britney Spears’ legal team has filed to remove Spears’ father from his role immediately while the process of ending the conservatorship begins. The Los Angeles Superior Court is set to address both petitions during the hearing next week, as well as likely outline what a potential end to the conservatorship would look like.
