‘Cabin Fever’ Movie Review (2003)

I don’t know where to start, since I only wanted this one to end.

Cabin Fever follows five kids into the woods for a vacation at a secluded cabin. It isn’t long until the kids are confronted by a man that is being eaten alive by a mysterious flesh eating virus.

Well, unfortunate for the kids, the sick gentleman with the disease falls into the local reservoir, polluting the water supply.

This is where the magic starts, and one of the members of the little group catches the tragic disease. The group is so repulsed, shocked, and sickened watching their friend deteriorate before their eyes; they lock her in a shed to avoid infection. Bye, bye. Nice knowing ya!

Without giving away the entire movie there are also run-ins with evil dogs, mindless police officers, rampaging hillbillies, gratuitous sex scenes, and a whole lot of blood.

Just as much as this movie bores you to your limits the effects are rather good. The flesh eating virus slowly burns away the skin and the makeup effects in Cabin Fever leave little to the imagination and enough to make your stomach churn, which I am assuming is the desired effect.

Cabin Fever fulfills every horror flick cliche in the book as people are falling at the exact wrong time, touching disease infected friends when they know what will happen, and ignoring any urge for the use of intelligence whatsoever.

With the amount of blood and the little bit of sexual gratification in this one you may get a cheap thrill, but if you ask me it isn’t worth it.
