Walt Disney Pictures is planning to remake the 1984 comedy The Flamingo Kid, Deadline reports. The new version will be produced by Brett Ratner with a screenplay by Nzingha Stewart (the executive producer of For Colored Girls).
The original film was directed by Garry Marshall and starred Matt Dillon as Jeffrey Willis, a recent high school graduate who winds up taking a summer job at a beach resort, The Flamingo Club.
Juliana Maio and Michael Phillips, the producer on the original film, are also attached to produce alongside Ratner.
