James Wan Takes Nightfall

Platinum Studios, Inc. and William Stuart’s Aurora Productions have partnered with director James Wan to bring Platinum Studios’ graphic novel “Nightfall” to the big screen.

Written and created by Scott O. Brown with art by Ferran Xalabarder, “Nightfall” was published in 2007 by Platinum.

Wan co-created and directed the first installment of the “Saw” franchise and continues to serve as an Executive Producer on the series, which is rapidly approaching $1 billion dollars worldwide. Wan’s latest outing, Insidious, wrapped in June and is scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

“The minute I heard the concept, I was in,” says Wan, “and then reading the graphic novel cemented that. Like ‘Saw’ it’s a simple concept that, if executed correctly, will be so cool.”

“James is the perfect director to bring ‘Nightfall’ to the big screen,” says Platinum CEO and producer Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. “James’ experience crafting the contained horror in ‘Saw,’ will be a big help in his informing the visual experience of ‘Nightfall.'”

Rosenberg will produce with Aurora’s Stuart. Former Universal Pictures senior executive Randy Greenberg of The Greenberg Group will serve as an executive producer.
