Pearce and Grace to Star in Besson’s Lock Out

Deadline New York is reporting that Maggie Grace (“Lost”) is reteaming with Taken writer and producer Luc Besson on the drama Lock Out (previously titled “Section 8”), which Sony Pictures is in talks for to distribute with Besson’s Europa Corp.

Taking place in outer space, Besson hatched the script for the project with directors James Mather and Stephen St. Leger.

The site says that “Guy Pearce is attached to play a man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He’s offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter (Grace) from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.”

When the project was first announced, it was described as follows:

“Section 8” is a 3D sci-fi action film that takes place in a prison orbiting 50 miles above the earth. The prison houses 500 of the world’s most dangerous prisoners, who are kept asleep by sophisticated techniques until they suddenly awaken.

Filming starts on September 7.
