Boring… Tom Hanks is Sully for Clint Eastwood’s Next

Tom Hanks is a fine actor, but I can’t say he’s much of a name that does much for me in terms of generating excitement, especially if the role is yet another biopic of sorts. So, to learn he’ll star as Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger for Clint Eastwood in Sully sort of bores me to sleep. I saw the news last night and all I could muster the energy to write was the headline you see above, saving the tedious details for the morning.

The film, titled Sully will tell of Sullenberger’s story as he made national headlines with the “Miracle on the Hudson” in January 2009 by successfully piloting U.S. Airways Flight 1549 into the Hudson River in New York City after a flock of geese caused the plane’s engines to malfunction. All 155 passengers — spoiler alert — survived the sudden landing.

Hanks is the first member of the cast to be named and you can expect a few more high profile names to join the cast shortly and a late year, 2016 release announced as Warner Bros. will be positioning this for all the Oscars. [Deadline]
