‘Jaws’ Returning to Theaters for Limited Run to Celebrate 40th Anniversary

Steven Spielberg‘s highly acclaimed hit Jaws turns 40 this summer, and to celebrate the occasion Universal Pictures is teaming up with Turner Classic Movies and Fathom Events to bring the movie back into theaters for a limited, albeit still terrifying, two-day run.

Credited as the first blockbuster, Spielberg’s summertime classic will be shown in select theaters Sunday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 24, playing at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm both days. In case you want to take part in the event and check out the film on the big screen, you can click here for a list of locations across the country exhibiting the film.

While it is one of the most acclaimed movies of all-time, and rightly so, Jaws holds a special place in my heart, perhaps one more special than any other movie. It is the first film I ever remember seeing, all thanks to my father, who apparently thought it would be a good idea to scare his four-year-old son half to death and make him terrified of water — whether in the bath, in the toilet, or in a glass — for a long time thereafter. So yeah, I think I’m probably going to check this one out and see it on the big screen for the first time ever.

You can check out a list of theaters showing the film here, and for more information on the event itself click here. To commemorate the occasion and help take us all back to the summer of 1975, you can check out the first trailer for Jaws below.
