In a surprise to absolutely no one, Variety reports Netflix has renewed its flagship original series “House of Cards” for a fourth season, set to begin production this summer for what I can only assume is a February 2016 all-episodes-at-once release. If you needed further proof, the official “House of Cards” Twitter account tweeted out the photo below, complete with a cryptic hashtag that tells us exactly where this thing is headed, whether or not you’re caught up with the third season.
The streaming service has been adding more and more shows to its stable — see Mike’s reviews for both “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” (here) and “Bloodline” (here) — but “House of Cards” remains arguably its most popular series. Over the course of its first two seasons the show has won four Primetime Emmys in various categories as well as one Golden Globe each for both Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, who headline the series.

I binge-watched the first season of “House of Cards” over the course of its first week in release, and the second season over the course of a weekend spent in Seattle for a track meet, but I haven’t yet seen Season 3, which was accidentally leaked and quickly pulled from the streaming service in mid-February ahead of its official February 27 release date.
Based on what I’ve briefly read online and via Twitter it seems the third season has been “more of the same”, and not necessarily in a good way, so while I can’t say particularly what I would like to see from a fourth season the best I can say is I would like to see “less of the same,” for fear the show might grow stale. What say you guys, have you made your way through Season 3? What are your thoughts, and what would you like to see from a fourth season?
