House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 4 trailer shows what’s next for Rhaenyra
HBO released the House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 4 trailer on July 5. The preview teases Rhaenyra facing new threats after Ormund Hightower’s betrayal at Tumbleton. Rhaenyra asks in the trailer, “Why seize Tumbleton? He dares me to rain fire down on a seat that raised my banner.”
The trailer also reveals Daemon Targaryen grappling with financial pressures across the realm. He states, “Our soldiers need to be paid, else there will be bedlam.
Meanwhile, Larys Strong appears to counsel caution amid growing distrust among allies. He advises, “We must guard our intent quietly. You must presume these men hold allegiance only to themselves.” Gwayne Hightower separately searches for Prince Aemond, declaring, “We seek the Prince Aemond. If you know where he is, I’d advise you to be forthcoming.”
Ormund Hightower also makes his ambitions clear in the preview. He proclaims, “My purpose is to restore the rightful line to the Iron Throne. It is the will of the gods.” His seizure of Tumbleton despite pledging fealty signals a direct challenge to Rhaenyra’s authority.
Episode 4 premieres on July 12 on HBO and Max at 9 p.m. ET. David Hancock wrote the episode, and Clare Kilner directed it. The season currently holds a solid 88 percent critics’ approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Season 3 consists of eight episodes total, airing weekly through the summer. HBO already ordered a fourth season back in November 2025. Five episodes remain after this week’s installment, setting the stage for escalating conflict ahead.
