2015 MTV Movie Awards Nominees Topped by ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

Only a couple hours after I ask if anyone expected films such as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Transformers: Age of Extinction or Maleficent to receive Oscar nominations for Best Picture do we receive the 2015 MTV Movie Awards nominations wherein two of those films actually do get nominations along with the likes of Gone Girl and The Fault in Our Stars as the two other “Movie of the Year” nominees that didn’t make the Academy’s cut.

Oscar Best Picture winner Birdman was not nominated for Movie of the Year, but Emma Stone did receive a nomination as did Edward Norton and Michael Keaton for Best Fight. When it comes to overall tallies, it’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Neighbors and The Fault in Our Stars leading all nominees with seven each.
