Watch: New Behind-the-Scenes Clip from ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’

I’m sure most here will be getting in line for Avengers: Age of Ultron no matter what marketing Disney-Marvel throws at us in the next few months, but in case you needed further convincing or just want to get another peek at the film, today brings a 30-second behind-the-scenes featurette about the “bevy of great characters” within the Marvel universe and what those characters mean for Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the clip, director Joss Whedon turns his focus to his two newest Marvel additions, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson)

You aren’t going to learn too much from this clip, but I’m sure it’s enough to tide some of you over for at least a day or so. The one thing I will say, though, is I object to Whedon’s statement that “[Scarlet Witch’s] manipulation of objects and [Quicksilver’s] super-speed are not things we’ve seen in the Marvel universe.” Sure, we haven’t seen those things from these characters specifically, or perhaps quite to the effect they utilize them, but I’ve seen more than enough of that sort of superhero stuff. Whedon and Co. will have to rely on other things to impress me — a compelling story, perhaps. Superpowers just don’t wow me like they used to, I suppose.

That said, I am still hopeful this film will be good. I enjoyed Whedon’s last outing with the Avengers team and I generally enjoy Whedon’s style of films, but I’m waiting to see what exactly he is able to do with these characters, as the Marvel sheen has dulled a bit for me the last couple years. Anyways, enough about me, check out the clip below and enjoy.
