Relativity Supposedly Moving Forward on ‘November Man’ Sequel

This is most likely one of those press releases sent out merely as a way to give the current film a little additional publicity, but I guess there is a small, fraction of a chance Relativity thinks they may have their own Taken franchise in the form of The November Man, an upcoming release starring Pierce Brosnan.

In the flick, due for an August 27 release, Brosnan plays an ex-CIA agent, lured out of retirement to protect a valuable witness (Olga Kurylenko) only to learn the he is now the target of his former friend and CIA protégé (Luke Bracey). The film, and it’s supposed sequel, is based on Bill Granger’s bestselling “November Man” book series.

Directed by Roger Donaldson (The Bank Job), I have no question this film might be good, but when studios do this whole announcing the sequel before the first film is even released tactic. It reeks of desperation, especially when pre-production hasn’t even begun yet. If you tell me they already started shooting it that’s one thing, but if we’re announcing the impending start of pre-production? Well, then you’re telling me you’re just hoping the film makes money and if it does you’ll start work on another. Not exactly worthy of a press release.
