Car Seat or Cameraman? Behind the Scenes of ‘The Raid 2’ Car Chase Scene

As I mentioned in The Raid 2, one of the most impressive action sequences to me was the car chase scene, specifically the moment the camera goes from one car to another and through that second car.

[amz asin=”B00J5LXTUI” size=”small”]On the Blu-ray there’s a featurette that takes a look behind the scenes at the film’s stunts and action sequences and at one point it shows exactly how the scene was made and while I was watching my mind had a hard time figuring out just how they did it. As it turns out it’s much simpler (technically at least) than I ever would have imagined. Of course, it involves filming at very high speeds and a cameraman disguised as a car seat to pull it off.

I continue to marvel at how much better this car chase scene was than anything I’ve seen in the Fast & Furious franchise and while Fast and Furious 6 was made for a reported $160 million, it apparently cost only $4.5 million to make The Raid 2.

Check out how they made the sequence I described above directly below and read my full review here.
