One thing about the continuation of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe that’s going to become a problem for me is a complete unfamiliarity with the characters. It was tough enough with Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and now Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man, but a couple of them I have no problem sorting out, but the more of these films that get made the less I’ll be able to keep up with them, primarily because these comic characters have several different origin stories and iterations and I just don’t care enough.
All that said, these films are still likely to attract some top talent and in the case of Dr. Strange, which just landed Scott Derrickson (Sinister) as its director, the rumor Jared Leto may be eying the lead role is fascinating. Then again, I don’t know anything about the comics.
Badass Digest, where the rumor originated, feels it’s a terrible choice and one that will apparently have world ending consequences. “God help us all if that’s true,” writes Devin Faraci as if it matters more than not-at-all. I don’t know, maybe I’ve just become too jaded on these Marvel movies, but there’s your rumor. It probably isn’t true, but if it is, man, it sounds like things could get pretty bad.
