Dr. Storm Cast in ‘Fantastic Four’, ‘Bourne 5’ Screenwriter and Winstone Joins ‘Point Break’ Remake

Reg E. Cathey (“The Wire”, Se7en) has been cast as Dr. Storm, the scientist father of Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan) and Sue Storm (Kate Mara) in Josh Trank‘s upcoming The Fantastic Four reboot at Fox, set for a June 19, 2015 release date. [THR]

The upcoming Point Break remake recently lost Gerard Butler as Bodhi, but as the production date nears it was announced today Ray Winstone would be playing the role of Pappas, the role originally played by Gary Busey in the original opposite Keanu Reeves as Johnny Utah. In the remake Luke Bracey will take over for Reeves while a replacement for Butler is still being sought. [Deadline]

While people keep asking Matt Damon if he’d ever return to the Bourne franchise and he keeps telling them “if Paul Greengrass comes back” some actual news related to the continuing of the franchise just dropped as Andrew Baldwin has been hired to rewrite the screenplay for the The Bourne Legacy sequel, which Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6) is attached to direct and Jeremy Renner is expected to return as Aaron Cross. Universal has currently slated an August 14, 2015 release date, but there’s no word on whether or not that’s going to stick. [THR]

Jay Roach is attached to direct the long-gestating movie The Trade based on the 1970s scandal caused by New York Yankees pitchers Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich, who admitted to swapping wives with one another. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were once attached to the project by their schedules no longer allow them to star, only produce. The latest draft of the screenplay was penned by Casey Affleck, whom, it sounds like, may still have a role in the film. [Variety]
