First ‘RoboCop’ Remake Poster is Shiny and Plain

Movie posters like this give the impression movies are nothing but products. When it comes to studio features, that’s really all they are, but it’s when they look this cheap and plastic it doesn’t give me much hope for the final product.

Below is the first poster for the upcoming RoboCop remake starring Joel Kinnaman in the title role. The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Kinnaman is joined by Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle and Marianne Jean-Baptiste in the movie which will hit theaters February 7, 2014.

Check out the poster below and I’ve included the trailer directly above if you missed it earlier.
