Dennis Farina Has Died at the Age of 69

Some sad news today as actor Dennis Farina has passed away at the age of 69, reportedly as a result of a blood clot in his lung. Farina was a police officer who turned television and movie star with roles in such television shows as “Miami Vice” and “Law & Order” and films such as Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan and Guy Ritchie’s Snatch after serving as police consultant on Michael Mann‘s Thief in 1981, which is where the bug to begin acting began.

However, my favorite Farina appearance is in Barry Sonnenfeld’s Get Shorty, if you haven’t seen it, get on it… Here’s a clip featuring Farina and Gene Hackman.

Farina was currently a member of the cast of Fox’s “New Girl” and before that had a role in Michael Mann’s “Luck” for HBO. [AP]
