Morning 5: Carell and Ferrell ‘Swear to God’, Graham Returns for ‘Hangover 3’, Penn to Direct Again and More

.) Mark Margolis has joined the cast of Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah, which is noteworthy because it furthers his distinction of having appeared in all of Aronofsky’s films. He also recently had a run as “Tio” on AMC’s “Breaking Bad” (pictured)

). Steve Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine) is in talks with Screen Gems to direct Sexual Perversity In Chicago. The film is a remake of 1986’s About Last Night, which starred Rob Lowe, Jim Belushi, Elizabeth Perkins and Demi Moore. The new version would replace them with Michael Ealy, Kevin Hart and Regina Hall, respectively, while the search is still on for a young actress to fill the Demi Moore role. Thought smart money is on an eventual title change, Sexual Perversity in Chicago is the name of the original David Mamet play about a couple who start a romantic affair despite their friends’ approval. Pink is also entertaining the idea of directing Bad Santa 2, though that would happen after Sexual Perversity if both deals go through. [Deadline]

.) Sean Penn is looking to get back behind the camera for the first time since 2007’s Into the Wild, entering talks with Warner Bros. to direct Crazy for the Storm. The film is another survival tale, based on Norman Ollestad’s memoir about his relationship with his father and how the skills his father instilled in him helped him survive after a plane crash stranded him on a mountaintop. Penn isn’t planning to take a role in the film. [Variety]

.) Following Mike Epps‘ lead, Heather Graham will return for The Hangover Part III after sitting out the franchise’s second go-round. [Variety]

.) Justin Theroux, whose writing credits include Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2, will rewrite and direct the Will Ferrell and Steve Carell team-up Swear to God. Ferrell plays a narcissist who believes God has spoken to him. The original script came from Due Date writers Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland. The film will move forward once Ferrell finishes filming Anchorman 2. [Deadline]
