Box-Office Oracle: ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Goes for the Triple Crown Over ‘Total Recall’

The Dark Knight Rises goes for its third weekend crown in a row, while I go for my eighth week straight picking the #1 film correctly. What could possibly go wrong? Well, the family and sci-fi dollars definitely loom. Let’s break it down!

Laremy predicted the #1 movie correctly 7 Weeks In A Row

The Dark Knight Rises

It now seems entirely likely that this will miss the billion dollar mark worldwide. Mighty forces swept away the momentum, especially domestically. But really, that $533m put up stateside by The Dark Knight was always going to be tough to match – especially without all the fervor around Heath Ledger’s final performance.

Still, it’s $200m light right now overseas too. With Australia, the UK, and South Korea already reporting solid numbers I’m not sure where the extra money will come from. No shame in a silver medal though!

Prediction: $28.1 million

I’m becoming bearish on this title. The original made bank back in 1990, but I’m not sure who was clamoring for a remake. Plus, market conditions have never been as front-loaded or saturated. It was the only game in town back in 1990, but the game has changed.
Prediction: $25.2 million
I’ve never seen one of those, but my sources indicate the family dollar is tailing off as we reach the height of summer.
Prediction: $22 million
$632m worldwide, because of a 5x multiplier overseas. Extremely impressive.
Prediction: $7.3 million
It’s a race for the biggest dipper of the weekend, this vs. …
Prediction: $5.7 million
Yep, you guessed it. I’ve got a 58 percent bleed here. Is the franchise dunzo or is this the Resident Evil of dancing movies and the international box-office will continue to demand more and more?
Prediction: $5 million
7. Ted
In the next one, he really should fight Teddy Ruxpin. That’d be worth the price of admission.
Prediction: $4.5 million
Certainly profitable, but I hope they play it a little less safe for the sequel. We’re still owed a solid Venom tale.
Prediction: $3.1 million
The story remains the same – wait for the international dollars. But it’s amazing how much Disney’s next picture, Wreck-It Ralph, looks exactly like a Pixar picture.
Prediction: $2.4 million
I could definitely see Beasts of the Southern Wild sliding into this spot.
Prediction: $1.1 million

How say you? Like Total Recall‘s chances? Think I’m low on Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3? Here’s your chance to shine, predictions away!
