Storyboards and Set Pics of Vin Diesel as He Returns for ‘Riddick’

Vin Diesel and director David Twohy have been keeping fans updated every step of the way as they return to the sci-fi world they began in 2000 with Pitch Black with the upcoming third feature in the franchise, Riddick.

First off, Diesel has been updating fans via his Facebook page where today he dropped the third image of him on the set as he returns to play the film’s title character. That said, here’s the film’s synopsis:

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Shooting on the film is obviously underway right now up in Montreal, and just below are two more images Diesel has posted from the set and after that a special treat courtesy of writer/director David Twohy.

Back in mid-January Twohy posted the following four pieces of storyboard art as he was only one week away from the first day of shooting. Along with the art from Charles Ratteray, Twohy added the following note:

[M]ost of you don’t know about an artist named Charles Ratteray who does storyboards for me, just utterly dope stuff like what you see here. Well Charles wound up in the hospital this weekend with cardiac issues — way too young for that nonsense at just 36 years old — and this is big shout out to him, hoping he recovers quick and picks up that magical stylus soon. You have a lot of fans in Montreal, Charles.

Diesel is joined by “Battlestar Galactica” star Katee Sackhoff, Jordi Molla, and Nolan Funk in the film, which will be released by Universal, but does not yet have an official release date.
