Orlando Bloom Confirmed for ‘The Hobbit’

Peter Jackson just took to Facebook to confirm there is still a place in Middle Earth for Orlando Bloom’s Legolas in The Hobbit. Here’s what the director had to say:

Ten years ago, Orlando Bloom created an iconic character with his portrayal of Legolas. I’m excited to announce today that we’ll be revisiting Middle Earth with him once more. I’m thrilled to be working with Orlando again. Funny thing is, I look older–and he doesn’t! I guess that’s why he makes such a wonderful elf.

So while Bloom couldn’t find his way into Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, PJ didn’t forget about him for The Hobbit.

Bloom joins fellow returning Lord of the Rings cast members Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, Ian Holm and Hugo Weaving for the film, which will be featured in two parts and is currently filming in New Zealand. The first film is expected in December 2012.
