Samuel Goldwyn Films is kick-starting their marketing effort for their upcoming film Welcome to the Rileys starring James Gandolfini, Kristen Stewart and Melissa Leo. The film is set to hit theaters in New York, Los Angeles and Boston on October 29 and should expand from there should ticket sales prove worthwhile.
The film has earned its share of mixed reviews from early screenings, though even the less than positive reviews don’t slam it. Resident RopeofSilicon Box-Office Oracle, Laremy Legel, enjoyed it at Sundance writing for Film.com calling it “an engaging, if tense, viewing experience” and praising Kristen Stewart saying, “Stewart is a live wire throughout the near two-hour running time presented here. She comes off like a rabid dog, completely unpredictable; it’s easy to see why directors see so much potential in her work.”
The film revolves around a couple whose marriage is on the rocks when the husband (Gandolfini) meets a young prostitute (Stewart), on a business trip to New Orleans. He extends his stay to help her, as his wife (Leo) finds a way back to him. There is some talk of Oscar potential, but not having seen it I can’t figure out what kind of potential considering there hasn’t been any kind of overwhelming opinion one way or the other.
Today I was sent the official poster along with six new images from the film and the following two clips and I can already tell you this isn’t the end of what we’ll have from the film on this site so stay tuned over the rest of the month.
