A blurry set photo from Atlanta has thrown fuel on a burning DC casting mystery. The image, taken during filming for James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, shows a figure that some believe could be the alien queen Maxima. A new set video also teases an epic fight.

Atlanta Filming, a Georgia-based production tracker, posted the photo, describing spotting a woman wearing a red wig, a red dress, and prominent shoulder pads. Commenters proved baffled, with many unable to make sense of the smudged image.
However, the account has walked back on its own observation, confessing the sighting happened weeks ago and offering a self-deprecating summary, “A + B = shoulder pads,” and it may not be Maxima after all.
The speculation collides with ongoing speculation surrounding Adria Arjona’s role. Trade reports originally named her as Maxima, but persistent rumours now link the Andor actor to Wonder Woman instead. Shoulder pads don’t seem to solve anything here. Diana’s New 52 armour featured identical gold pauldrons, meaning any distant figure in costume could match either character.
DC Comics introduced Maxima as a powerful Almeracian royal who pursued Superman romantically, thinking him to be her only suitable partner. She began as an antagonist before reforming and earning a place within the Justice League. Gunn’s film has confirmed no such casting, leaving fans to scrutinize blurry pixels for answers.

A separate video showed a stunt sequence filmed at Man of Tomorrow’s shooting. The clip shows a body getting slammed across with bone-crunching force, part of a larger clash that reportedly forces Superman and Lex Luthor into an uneasy alliance. David Corenswet’s Man of Steel will be teaming up with Nicholas Hoult’s villain to stop Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger, from destroying Earth.
Rachel Brosnahan returns as Lois Lane alongside Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen. The cast also features Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Aaron Pierre reprising his John Stewart role from Lanterns. Audiences can judge the final product when Man of Tomorrow releases on July 9, 2027.
