Rom-Com or Drama? First Poster for ‘Love and Other Drugs’

I haven’t watched the two different trailer for Fox’s upcoming Love and Other Drugs directed by Ed Zwick (Last Samurai) and starring Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal, but they have divided readers as to what we should expect from this upcoming, supposed Oscar contender. Now a new poster adds to the puzzle.

Hathaway portrays Maggie, a woman with Parkinson’s who falls in love with Jamie (Gyllenhaal), a pharmaceutical salesman and their relationship supposedly plays out in the political and social context of the time. Oliver Platt, Hank Azaria, Josh Gad and Gabriel Macht co-star.

Hathaway has been receiving buzz all year long for her performance as she’s supposed to be a lock for a Best Actress Oscar nod and some already have her as the front-runner. It’s obviously too early to tell, and buzz could have been started by her reps just as much as it could have been reliable sources. We’ll just have to wait until it hits theaters on November 24 to find out for ourselves. The R-rating for “strong sexual content, nudity, pervasive language, and some drug material” certainly does add a bit of curiosity to the conversation though.

I added both the international and domestic trailer to my November Fall Preview (I added the domestic just above) if you’d like to see what has people confused, otherwise here’s a look at the first poster for this romantic-dramedy?
