Prime Video has released the poster for The Idea of You, an upcoming romantic comedy based on the acclaimed 2017 novel of the same name by Robinne Lee. Starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, the streamer also revealed that the trailer will be coming out tomorrow.
Set to arrive on the streaming service on May 2, The Idea of You will center on a 40-year-old mother named Sophie (Hathaway), who — after her ex dumped her for a younger woman and bailed on their daughter’s Coachella festival trip — will soon find herself falling deeply in love with 24-year-old boy band lead singer Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), whom she met at the said festival. However, due to Hayes Campbell’s popularity, their “viral” relationship proves to be more challenging than it seems.
Directed by Michael Showalter from a screenplay by Jennifer Westfeldt, the rest of the cast also includes Mathilda Gianopoulos, Ella Rubin, Annie Mumolo, Jordan Aaron Hall, Jaiden Anthony, Reid Scott, Perry Mattfeld, Raymond Cham, Vik White, and Dakota Adan.
The official synopsis for The Idea of You reads: “Sophie’s husband Dan left her for a younger woman, and now he has canceled his Coachella trip with their 15-year-old daughter. Sophie picks up the pieces and braves the crowds and desert heat. There, she meets 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, the lead singer of the hottest boy band on the planet, August Moon.”
Is The Idea of You based on a Harry Styles fanfiction?
Since the book’s release, there has been speculation that it is solely based on Harry Styles fanfiction, considering one of the lead characters, Hayes, shares similarities to the former One Direction member.
While the author did reveal that Styles served as one of the inspirations while creating the character of Hayes, she told Vogue that it was “never supposed to be a book about Harry Styles.” Instead, she claimed that it is “a story about a woman approaching 40 and reclaiming her sexuality and rediscovering herself.”
