Trailer for Doug Liman’s ‘Fair Game’ Arrives

Yahoo has unveiled the trailer for Doug Liman’s Fair Game, a film I saw at Cannes and quite enjoyed (read my review here).

The film features Naomi Watts as outed CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson and focuses on the story as told in Plames’ 2007 book of the same name, which derived from a statement Karl Rove made to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews in July of 2003 saying, “Wilson’s wife is fair game.” Sean Penn stars as Joe Wilson, Valerie’s husband.

Summit is set to release the film on November 5 in limited markets before it expands further on the 12th. When I saw it in Cannes I speculated it had a chance at securing one of the ten Best Picture nominations. At this point I am still leaning that way seeing how not a lot has impressed me enough to say otherwise, but the final four months of 2010 are looking pretty great and by all is said and done it may come down to Summit’s pandering to the Academy to see if this one can get in.

Check out the trailer directly below, and if you want more you can get the complete synopsis, a clip and seven images from the film right here.

On a side note, if you’re up to it, you can engage in the conversation that took place in the comment section of my review. It’s safe to say it got a little intense.
