Poster and Tons of New Pics from ‘Miral’ Starring Freida Pinto

Pathe Distribution has just made available 35 new images including the first poster from Julian Schnabel’s Miral, which will be premiering at the 67th Venice International Film Festival in September followed by an appearance at the 35th Toronto International Film Festival just days later. I will be in attendance at Toronto and this is certain to be near the top of my “must watch” list.

Miral is the first narrative feature from Schnabel since The Diving Bell and the Butterfly in 2007, which earned the director an Oscar nomination and the film was also nominated for cinematography, editing and adapted screenplay.

Miral is an adaptation of Italo-Palestinian Rula Jebreal’s book about the real-life Palestinian woman Hind Husseini, who started the Dar Al-Tifl orphanage in Jerusalem in the wake of the 1948 partition of Palestine and the creation of the state of Israel. The story will span the years 1948-94. The film stars Hiam Abbas (The Visitor) and Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire).

I’ve added the previously released international trailer just above, a look at the new poster featuring Pinto just below and you can click here to browse the entire RopeofSilicon gallery for a look at all 35 new images.

Following Miral‘s run on the festival circuit The Weinstein Co. will release the film in theaters on December 3 for its award season push.
