UPDATED: David Carradine Found Dead in a Bangkok Hotel

UPDATE: CNN’s report now says Carradine was found “hanging by a nylon rope,” which “was believed to be from the hotel room curtains, Bangkok Police Lt. Col. Pirom Chanpirom said.” There were no signs of forced entry. Autopsy results are not expected for at least another day. “Knowing David, he would never commit suicide,” and his death comes at a time when his “career is on a roll,” said Tiffany Smith, Carradine’s personal co-manager.

Carradine was in Bangkok for filming of the movie Stretch, being produced by a United Kingdom-based company, she said. He was the only American cast member. Original report now follows…

CNN is reporting David Carradine was found dead in a Bangkok, Thailand, hotel, according to his personal manager, Chuck Binder. The BBC adds to the report saying a hotel maid found him sitting in a wardrobe with a cord around his neck and other parts of his body. While a US embassy official said the cause of death had not yet been established, Thai newspaper The Nation reported police believe the actor took his own life, and preliminary investigations found that he hanged himself. Carradine was 72 years old.

I am sure many of you remember Carradine from his role as the traveling Shaolin monk Kwai Chang Caine in the television series “Kung Fu,” but most recently he became best known for his role as Bill in Quentin Tarantino’s two Kill Bill features.
