SNL’s ‘MacGruber’ Movie Actually Happening

Back in March we learned New Line Cinema was moving forward with early efforts to make a feature film based on the television series “MacGyver”. As if that wasn’t stupid enough, last night on the “Jimmy Fallon Show” Will Forte told the late night host a feature film adaptation of his insanely awful “Saturday Night Live” skit “MacGruber” was actually going to become a movie and plans were already underway to shoot in Albuquerque.

The potential for the film was first mentioned as an aside at The Hollywood Reporter, but last night Forte took it a step further saying, “John Solomon, Jorma Taccone and I just finished writing it. We’re gonna make it in Albuquerque. It’s me and Kirsten Wiig and cast to be determined.”

I don’t know about you, but this is one project I could do without and one I have no legitimate interest in seeing whatsoever. The “MacGruber” Pepsi commercial during the Super Bowl was rated 44th out of 50 at USA Today and I haven’t heard from anyone that actually finds the “MacGyver” spoof funny in the slightest.
