Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson entered Hollywood as an action star with many believing he may be the next Arnold Schwarzenegger, so much so he had something of a hand-off moment in a club scene in The Rundown. However, since that time Johnson has had a couple of action movies, but recently he has resigned himself to more family oriented features such as The Game Plan, Race to Witch Mountain and the upcoming Fox feature, Tooth Fairy. Well, it looks like that is about to change as he has been cast in the revenge feature, Faster, for CBS Films.
Johnson will star as an ex-con bent on avenging the death of his brother, murdered 10 years earlier when the two were double-crossed during a heist. Okay, so it’s an action film, but boy does this sound like a tired storyline.
Faster will re-team Johnson with his Gridiron Gang director Phil Joanou with a script penned by Joe and Tony Gayton.
Filming is set to begin in August.
