Laremy is out so I am here to report on his glory, and while he missed the top spot by $15.8 million I don’t think we should be as down on him as much as we should be up on Twilight. While Twilight has taken a beating in the review section, the fans certainly came out to support it and that is worth something…
#1 movie predicted correctly: 3 Weeks In A Row
1. Twilight
$70.5 million is a big number. If the $35 million rumored budget is correct it means Twilight doubled it in its opening weekend and if this opening weekend does hold it actually means Twilight will edge just above Transformers for the 29th highest opening of all-time as well as the #2 opening for a vampire flick. Usually a number this big does drop a bit as the studio loves the fact they can say “over $70 million” but this is nonetheless a major success.
Result: 70.5 million (Laremy’s rank: #1, $15.8m off)
Woo hoo, glad to see Jimmy Bond is still putting asses in the seats. Quantum Of Solace is certainly one of my favorite Bond films and in my opinion far more watchable on repeat viewings than Casino Royale. I’m already anxiously awaiting the DVD. The 60% is noticeable, but after that massive opening weekend I think it is to be expected as the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend should benefit it.

3. Bolt
Hmmmm, is $27 million bad considering Laremy predicted $40.2 million? It was tracking for a $40 million opening so does that mean the expected audience just stayed home? Personally I thought it was a lackluster film, but other critics disagreed. I guess the audience fell right in the middle with their perception.

Now here is a good animated feature. I really disliked the first one, but this sequel was quite good.

5. Role Models
And yet another flick I am happy to see continue its success in the box-office top ten as it has now made $48 million on a budget of $28. Not too bad, and if you haven’t seen it yet give it a watch, it’s awfully funny.

6. Changeling
Laremy hit the prediction on the head, just missed it by one spot as Clint Eastwood’s flick keeps chugging along.
Result: 2.6 million (Laremy’s rank: #7, $0m off)
With $86.8 million in the bank why hasn’t Disney followed Summit’s lead and announced the sequel?

Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri is now $1.3 million away from becoming Smith’s highest grossing domestic film of all-time. While it isn’t the $100 million money maker he was hoping for at least he can say he finally improved.

I have no idea why people would look at this and be like, “Yup, gonna go see that Holocaust film about the little boy in the prison fatigues.” Sorry, I am on the cusp of being all Holocaust-ed out. I just saw Defiance and seeing this flick would only add insult to injury as one of the worst periods in human history just can’t seem to be forgotten at the cinema. It may be a good movie, but I don’t think I will ever know.

And the anchor is The Secret Life of Bees. I should probably go see this movie. Yeah, I’ll dwell on that idea for a bit.
