MUST BUYS

Nope… not a single title this week is worthy of your hard earned cash. There are some worthy rentals, but if you spend more than rental price on any of these titles you have been duped.

THE REST
I am sure many people will tell you to rush out and buy this “quirky” little film because it will make you laugh and laugh. Bullshit. The laughter will stop, and it will stop soon. Juno is a decent flick, but hardly worth the massive amount of praise it received. It’s good for one or two viewings, but I don’t see you returning to it more than that. BUY IT AT AMAZON
Aliens vs. Predator is hardly a film. This thing is more blackness than anything else. Seriously, the film is bad enough, but when you finally see it (or don’t see it) and realize that it is filmed in almost utter darkness you will wonder if actually anything is going on. I think it had potential to be decent, but too much stood in its way. BUY IT AT AMAZON
People have been beating up Uwe Boll lately and he has become pretty much a tired punchline for the uninspired. Then again, the guy doesn’t really do himself any favors with his silly comments. All that said, this is the first Boll flick I have ever seen and it wasn’t half bad as a mild diversion. However, buying it is a waste of money. Give it a rent, it won’t hurt. BUY IT AT AMAZON
One of the most overrated films I have ever seen. Critics seem desperate to love Sidney Lumet, but I am not letting silly wanting get in the way of me seeing how dumb this film actually is. It’s a five minute story turned into damn near 2 hours of excess. BUY IT AT AMAZON
Ryan Gosling plays a guy that falls in love with a blow-up doll, or something to that effect. Yeah, I ain’t interested. BUY IT AT AMAZON
I know nothing about this film, but it is supposedly a classic. So, that’s something. This is just one of several Columbia Classics releases this week, a few more are listed below. BUY IT AT AMAZON
